Falling In Love with TSOP

Watching David Haye enter the ring last night to McFadden & Whitehaed's Soul Boy and Soul Girl anthem " Ain't No Stopping Us Now " just showed how The Sound of Philadelphia lives on and on .
The combination of GREAT Songs ,Vocalists , Orchestral Arrangements and Production created a Soul sound that ,in my opinion, has never been bettered and still sounds perfect today.
The first Philly song that I heard and bought was The O'Jays " For The Love Of Money " that I heard on my first holiday with the lads in Bournemouth .....I was wearing a pale blue bowling shirt and pale blue Levi's sta-press  and I met a girl from Leicester.......Happy Days !
When I took Loose Ends to Philadelphia to record their first album- the first British Soul band to record and album in America - we recorded at Sigma Sound with Nick Martinelli Producing and I met the engineer Joe Tarsia who engineered ALL the great Philly albums ,the rhythm section called " The Harris Machine " who played on them ,the legendary guitarist Bobby Eli and one of my all-time heroes the brilliant and very eccentric Dexter ( life On Mars ) Wansel.....more of him another day !
In memory of those heady days when I first fell in love with The Sound of Phildelphia here's a link to a live performance of " For The Love Of Money " by The O'Jays with one of THE finest vocalists ,Eddie Levert,on top form.......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9O8gTib5rnw.......Enjoy !

This is why I LOVE TSOP
Happy Sunday
